About Us

The UNC Children’s International Travel Clinic will prepare you for safe and healthy international travel. Our providers will help you decide which immunizations and medications are right for your child. Our services are available to children of all ages in the community, and we can also provide immunizations and travel recommendations to family members. Our travel experts can provide the following services:

  • Review your child’s medical background to provide individualized recommendations for their travel needs.
  • Assess country-specific health risks.
  • Determine need for and provide appropriate vaccinations to protect against infectious diseases including:
    • Yellow Fever
    • Typhoid
    • Hepatitis A
    • Polio
    • Meningitis
    • Japanese Encephalitis
    • Rabies
  • Assess need for and provide appropriate medications for malaria prophylaxis.
  • Provide education and antibiotics for traveler’s diarrhea.
  • Identify safeguards for individuals with special needs.
  • Provide follow-up medical care for travelers as needed.
