Dedicated Inpatient Facilities
When your child receives inpatient heart care at N.C. Children’s Hospital, s/he will stay and get treatments in areas designed just for kids. Your child’s care team has access to facilities that include:
- Children’s Intermediate Care Center (CICC) – An eight-bed unit for children recovering from heart surgery or interventional cardiology procedures; private rooms include foldout beds and private bathrooms, so you can stay close to your child throughout recovery
- Pediatric echocardiography laboratory – Advanced imaging suites staffed by sonographers specially trained to conduct and interpret children’s echocardiograms.
- Pediatric cardiac catheterization laboratory – Newly constructed suite designed for and dedicated to pediatric catheterization and electrophysiology procedures.

- Pediatric Cardiology Clinic is located in N.C. Children’s Hospital on the ground floor. Follow the signs to the "North Carolina Children's Heart Center."
- Pediatric Echocardiography Laboratory is located in N.C. Children’s Hospital on the ground floor. Follow the signs to the "North Carolina Children's Heart Center."
- Pediatric Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory is located in N.C. Children’s Hospital on the ground floor. Follow the signs to the "North Carolina Children's Heart Center."
- Exercise Testing Laboratory is located in N.C. Memorial Hospital, 6th floor, in the Pulmonary Function Lab (see sign next to elevator on 6th floor).
- TEE Laboratory is located in one of the procedure rooms in the operating suites of N.C. Memorial Hospital.
- Electrophysiology Laboratory is located in N.C. Children’s Hospital on the ground floor. Follow the signs to the "North Carolina Children's Heart Center."
Parking is available in the Dogwood Patient/Visitor Parking Deck for an hourly fee. Valet parking is also available. Another option is parking at the nearby Ambulatory Care Center on Mason Farm Road, where you can park for an hourly fee and ride a shuttle to the hospital.
