What to Expect on Your First Visit
As a team, we thought it would be helpful to outline what you can expect for your first visit with the UNC Feeding Team.
When you come in to see the UNC feeding team at either location, you will see a Gastroenterologist Nurse Practitioner, (a nurse that treats problems related to your stomach and gut), a Dietitian, and a Feeding Therapist (Speech Pathologist) together during the visit.
Each appointment should last about an hour. Please bring your child ready to eat and bring foods from home for the feeding team to watch your child eat. It is helpful to see the foods your child eats well and foods that you would like your child to eat.
During the feeding session, the team will ask questions to learn what your concerns are and how your child eats. Then, we will watch your child try to eat.
After the visit, the feeding team will join you to help create a plan that best addresses your concerns and help your child improve feeding.
You, as caregivers, are an important part of our team. Please come with questions and information to help us get to know your child.
