N.C. Children's Airway Center
The Airway Center offers coordinated, multidisciplinary evaluation and treatment of children with complex congenital or acquired airway disorders. The Center brings together the largest concentration of pediatric airway specialists in the Southeast. These specialists include pediatric pulmonologists and otolaryngology/head and neck surgeons as well as dedicated experts in multiple disciplines including pediatric nursing, speech therapy, respiratory therapy, nutrition, and social work.
N.C. Children's Center for Clinical Excellence
This center aims to build a sustainable quality improvement (QI) infrastructure at N.C. Children's Hospital. They provide experiential learning for faculty, staff, and trainees by integrating QI projects and training in our inpatient, outpatient, and community settings. The Center allows N.C. Children's to deliver patient-centered, effective, timely, efficient, equitable and safe care to all the children it serves.
N.C. Children's Center for Inflammatory Bowel Diseases
The pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Diseases program at N.C. Children’s Hospital treats about 500 children and young adults each year. Their multidisciplinary team includes GI specialists, nutritionists, nurse practioners, pyschologists and surgeons who are experts in treating children with Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis.
Pediatric Sedation Excellence
This program aims to provide a coordinated approach to improving the quality and safety of pediatric sedations at UNC Hospitals. It is one of the programs monitored under the N.C. Children's Center for Clinical Excellence.
Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center
The UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center treats children from all over the state with various forms of cancer. The Pediatric Oncology Program treats and cures children and adolescents with cancer and blood diseases through participation in both national and locally designed treatment protocols.
North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center
Children who suffer burns and other serious injuries receive life-saving treatment and reconstructive surgery at the North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center. The Burn Center is dedicated to providing the crucial combination of specialized medical care and rehabilitative services required by victims of severe burns. Highly specialized health professionals work as a team to apply the most advanced technology and treatment methods for the care of the individual patient.
UNC Comprehensive Transplant Center
Since performing its first kidney transplant in 1968, UNC's pediatric transplant program has become one of the largest in the Southeast. Each year, UNC pediatric surgeons perform more heart, lung, liver and kidney transplants than any other hospital in the state. The N.C. Children's Hospital is the only hospital in the Southeast that performs kidney transplants involving living donors. The programs perform procedures for the transplantation of heart, heart-lung, lung, liver, kidney, and bone marrow and stem cells.
Carolina Institute for Developmental Disabilities
Previously the Center for Development and Learning, the Institute provides world class services, research, and training for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.
Center for Environmental Medicine, Asthma and Lung Biology (CEMALB)
CEMALB is broadly concerned with environmental impacts on human health and on respiratory health in particular. The Center’s research programs are closely related to those of U.S. EPA’s Human Studies Division located on the UNC-CH medical campus.
Center for Maternal and Infant Health
The Center seeks to improve the health of North Carolina's women and infants.The Center focuses on helping patients with high-risk pregnancies and families with medically fragile infants to navigate a complex health care system, working with them to make sure they are receiving the best care and support available.
Laboratories for Reproductive Biology (LRB)
The LRB integrates investigations in the areas of reproductive endocrinology, reproductive steroid hormone action, spermatogenesis post-testicular sperm maturation, fertilization, embryo implantation innate immunity and reproductive functions.
