Pediatric Rehabilitation
Who We Are: We are a dynamic team of physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists, who are passionate about treating children and coaching families through a hospitalization.
- Occupational Therapist: promotes growth and development through daily living skills and therapeutic activities
- Physical Therapist: promotes function and development through mobilization and strengthening exercises
- Speech-Language Pathologist: assesses and treats speech, language, communication, cognitive linguistics and feeding and swallowing disorders
- Child-Life Specialist: uses developmentally appropriate interventions and coping strategies to reduce stress and anxiety for children and their families
What We Do
During your child’s stay at the hospital, our multidisciplinary team will collaborate to create an individualized treatment plan for your child. Our combined expertise ensures that we consider all aspects of your child’s health. Based on his or her needs, we will build a comprehensive treatment plan, and work together with other medical providers to help your child achieve the highest level of function possible.
Family-centered Care
Here at UNC Children’s, caring relationships are the heartbeat of our work. Building relationships with our patients is central to our treatment approach, because we recognize and honor that your child is first a person, and then a patient. We believe the whole family should be a part of your child’s experience here, so we welcome your involvement and input in your child’s treatment plan. Together, we can do it!
