Education/Precepting in Continuity Clinic

Continuity clinic offers a unique educational model for resident physicians to see patients independently in a supportive environment under the guidance of a pediatric attending preceptor. Residents are responsible for all aspects of patient care which fosters independent learning and teaches resident physicians the importance of taking ownership of acute care and well-child care of their patients, while having the support and guidance of a faculty preceptor. This environment fosters independent learning while creating unique educational opportunities with each patient encounter that resident physicians discuss with their faculty preceptor. This precepting model allows for ongoing resident growth and independence in pediatric primary care over the course of their three years of residency while allowing for unique in the moment education on all facets of pediatric primary care.

The teen primary care clinic provides primary care to patients 10-21 years old, particularly those who have complex health needs including mental health (including anxiety, depression, ADHD, or eating disorders), sexual and reproductive health (including long-acting reversible contraception), substance use. The clinic support adolescents and young adults who may need more than general primary care, and may or may not need specialty care.
